Rewarewa

Found only in New Zealand’s North Island and Marlborough Sounds, this dark honey is often mistaken for Manuka for its intense toffee flavour. Rata

Rata trees have glossy dark green leaves and trunks that are often gnarled and twisted. They are best known for their brilliant red flowers that appear in profusion from November to January. The trees tend to flower well only once every few years and favour the temperate, high rainfall conditions of the west coast of the South Island, which is where we source our honey. The nectar is treasured by native birds such as the Tui, Bellbird and Kaka, and produces a very white honey considered to be of the very finest quality of any in the world. Medium in Strength.

Pohutukawa is regarded as the native New Zealand Christmas Tree. Covered in bright red brush-like flowers in December, the Pohutukawa tree is an evergreen native that favours coastal conditions and is particularly prevalent in the North Island and on the sunny east coast of New Zealand. Pohutukawa Honey is a sweet high-quality honey. Pale gold in colour, it has delicate floral flavours that taste of the New Zealand summer season. Due to scarcity of supply, Pohutukawa honey is only available at limited times. Medium in strength.
